Review

‘Sharma's compelling and meticulously researched magnum opus is the best work I have read on chronicling this betrayal.’ — Pavan K. Varma, Former Diplomat and author of The Great Hindu Civilisation

‘A fascinating account of one of India's most important and populous states … Sharma has illustrated how horribly things can go wrong in a flawed democracy.’ — Dr Jayaprakash Narayan, Founder, Lok Satta Party

‘Undoubtedly an important addition to the writings on political tumult in India’s heartland … a gripping narration of the way the politics … played out in the state of Bihar’— Parakala Prabhakar, political economist and author of The Crooked Timber of New India

‘A very fluid and interesting read. Mrityunjay Sharma’s riveting storytelling style deftly explains the electoral equations in one of the most politically complicated states of India.’ — Yashwant Deshmukh, Founder, CVoter

‘This gripping narrative weaves a tale of resilience and rebellion … Detailed, eye-opening and eminently readable.’ — Abhayanand, former DGP, Bihar and educationist

‘This book evocatively encapsulates [Bihar’s] crucial landmarks as if giving a crash course in politics.’ — Santosh Singh, Senior Assistant Editor, The Indian Express
