About the Book
A VIBRANT COLLECTION OF TIMELESS TAMIL FOLKTALES FILLED WITH HUMOUR, MAGIC AND WISDOM, PASSED DOWN THROUGH GENERATIONS.
Tamil Nadu is a land where stories live in every home, every temple and every winding village lane-stories whispered by grandmothers, sung by wandering voices and passed down through generations. In Folktales from Tamil Nadu, Narayan Devanathan gathers some of the most delightful and enduring tales from this rich storytelling tradition.
Within these pages, forgetful flies search for their lost names, clever tricksters turn misfortune into triumph and tiny creatures outwit kings, gods and giants. From a sparrow's endless appetite to a peppercorn's magical adventure, these are stories where the ordinary becomes extraordinary and wisdom hides in humour, rhythm and surprise.
Beautifully designed in four colour and richly illustrated, this collection invites readers young and old to discover-or rediscover-the warmth, wit and wonder of Tamil Nadu's timeless folktales. Let the tales unfold. Let the voices be heard. Because in the end, we are all made of stories.
