About the Author

Tulsidas (1532–1623 CE) was one of India’s greatest devotional poets and saints, renowned for his profound devotion to Lord Rama. Writing primarily in Awadhi and Braj Bhasha, he brought sacred Sanskrit themes into the language of the common people. His most celebrated work, the Ramcharitmanas, retells the story of the Ramayana in a deeply devotional style. In addition to Ramcharitmanas, Tulsidas composed several other mangal kavyas (auspicious poems), including Parvati Mangal, which glorifies the divine union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. His writings emphasize bhakti (devotion), moral values, and the power of divine love. Revered as a saint, philosopher, and poet, Tulsidas transformed Hindi literature and remains a towering figure in India’s spiritual and literary heritage.
