What were the prime ministers' preferences in their daily dining routine? How did they entertain? What was their favourite dish? The Prime Minister's Table documents all this and more about the lives of India's prime ministers through stories that emerged in their kitchens. It becomes a veritable kaleidoscope for viewing the personal life of each prime minister, starting from Jawaharlal Nehru down to Narendra Damodardas Modi. The book attempts to trace interesting recipes that continue to be a part of their families' kitchens. It also marks the shift from the Maharaja's munificence to democracy's new power centre. Much has been written about royal India and its extravagant kitchens, but little is known about the goings-on in the kitchens of India's prime ministers. The Prime Minister's Table provides the missing link from the days of the Raj to democracy's new commanding forces and their kitchen culture subtle, private and yet hard to ignore. Sit back as the authors take readers on a unique food journey through various cultures, ethnicities, and lives as seen through India's most significant office since 1947. There is much to savour.
