Kenneth Grahame was a British writer born on March 8, 1859 in Edinburgh, Scotland. As a student, he excelled in his studies at St Edward s School in Oxford, but because of financial reasons could not go to university. Kenneth first began writing stories to educate and entertain his son Alistair whom he had nicknamed Mouse and who had several health problems. Through the book, he hoped to teach his son to be more responsible and mature in his behavior towards others.
