Amit Ranjan is an author, scholar, journalist, poet, playwright and actor whose writing explores history, literature and the fascinating figures who have shaped the Indian subcontinent. A three-time Fulbright scholar, he has also received the Endeavour and Inlaks Fellowships and has been a visiting scholar at Florida International University in Miami and the University of New South Wales in Sydney. He studied at St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, and Jawaharlal Nehru University, where he earned his PhD, and has taught at leading institutions in India and abroad. Ranjan is the author of John Lang: Wanderer of Hindoostan… and two poetry collections, Find Me Leonard Cohen, I’m Almost Thirty and The Knot of Juggernaut. His latest book, Dara Shukoh: The Faqir and the Throne of Thorns, revisits the life, philosophy and tragic downfall of Shah Jahan’s eldest son, offering a nuanced exploration of the prince’s syncretic vision and his place in Indian history
