Manoj Mukund Naravane is a retired four-star general of the Indian Army who served as the 28th Chief of Army Staff from 2019 to 2022. Born in Pune, he was commissioned into the Sikh Light Infantry regiment in 1980 and built a distinguished military career spanning over four decades. Naravane held key command and staff positions, including leading strike corps, serving as Vice Chief of Army Staff, and heading the Army Training Command. He also gained significant experience in counterinsurgency operations in Jammu and Kashmir and the Northeast, as well as international exposure through peacekeeping roles. Known for his strategic acumen and calm leadership, he played a crucial role in handling sensitive border situations, particularly along India’s northern frontiers. After retirement, he has contributed to strategic discourse through writing and public speaking, sharing insights on defense, security, and geopolitics
