Priya Hajela is an Indian fiction writer whose work explores family, identity, history, resilience, and the complexities of human relationships. Born in Ludhiana, Punjab, she spent her early years in northern India before moving to the United States for higher education and professional opportunities. She pursued a successful career spanning more than two decades in the telecommunications and information technology industries before following her passion for writing. In 2017, she earned a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Goddard College in Vermont. Her debut novel, Ladies’ Tailor, published by HarperCollins India in 2022, explores the experiences of a family rebuilding its life in the aftermath of Partition. Her later novel, For Whose Dear Sake Our Fathers Died, examines Sikh family history, colonial rule, loyalty, and generational memory. Through evocative storytelling and carefully drawn characters, Hajela brings overlooked histories and personal experiences to life, connecting the past with contemporary questions of belonging and identity
