Shivani Sibal is a novelist based in New Delhi whose writing explores class, privilege, power, relationships and the complexities of contemporary urban life. Born and brought up in New Delhi, she continues to live there with her husband and daughters. Her debut novel, Equations, published by HarperCollins in 2021, examined class, aspiration and social hierarchies through the intertwined lives of two childhood friends from very different backgrounds. Her second novel, Moms, published in 2026, turns its focus towards motherhood, marriage, privilege and the carefully curated image of a perfect life. With a sharp eye for social detail and a keen understanding of human contradictions, Sibal creates characters who exist within complicated emotional and social structures.
