Dasgupta received a master’s degree in Sanskrit and Philosophy from the Sanskrit College in Calcutta. He also taught at Cambridge University. He obtained a PhD from Cambridge in 1922 and was nominated to represent Cambridge University at the International Congress of Philosophy in Paris
