Her picture books have received honors from the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, have been used as curriculum tools in schools and in museum educational programs, and have even been translated into French. She lives in northern Virginia with her family.

Jay Fleck is a Shorewood, Illinois-based designer and illustrator. His artwork has been selected for print at Threadless.com, has been featured on products at the GAP, on the front page of Society6.com, and at FAB.com, along with a number of other brick-and-mortar and internet stores. He is currently working on several picture books.
