About the Author

Soumya Mukerji is a writer, editor and journalist who approaches culture, nature, arts and design through an intuitive and poetic lens. Grounded in nearly two decades of narrative journalism, she has held editorial roles at Hindustan Times, The Times of India, NDTV and progressive creative publications such as STIR and Platform magazine.
Her work has appeared in The Guardian, Travel + Leisure, The Bombay Literary Magazine, The Hindu Sunday Magazine and Literary Review, among others. She has woven incisive narratives and drawn out unhurried conversations with artists and thinkers across the world.
Shaped by an eclectic upbringing amid diverse cultures and immersive travels in nature, her poetry distils these expansive experiences. Beyond the page, she works as an educator, social impact mentor and cultural strategist. Cries is her first book.
