About the Author

Karanji is an author, storyteller and chronicler of Karnataka s folklore and oral traditions, drawing on stories heard in the villages and river towns where these tales first took shape. Listening at the feet of grandmothers and travelling bards, and through years of reading and researching the folklore and history of the southern state, Karanji has gathered together stories that might otherwise have faded from memory.
He lives in the city, travels across the world, but returns often in memory and on paper to the world of these tales. This is Karanji s first collection of stories for children.
