“With so much written about ancient cultures, ruins and artifacts, it's no easy job to write a book filled with interesting, new material. Yet this is what Prateek Dasgupta has done in this fascinating and engaging work. As a historian of antiquity myself, I learned many things I hadn't known before, and Dasgupta has adeptly brought it to life. I highly recommend picking up a copy at your earliest opportunity. It's a great piece of writing to have on your bedside table.”- Dr. David Miano, Historian of the Ancient World, Host of the World of Antiquity Channel (YouTube), and Author
"A fascinating read. Prateek Dasgupta takes us on an exhilarating journey through history's greatest forgotten chapters, from the ruins of Göbekli Tepe to the rise of the Kushans. In vivid detail and brilliant prose, he breathes life into lost worlds of the steppe and reclaims the overlooked moments that shaped our past.” –Sam Dalrymple, Historian, Author of Shattered Lands
"Forgotten Footprints takes us to some of our earliest civilizations and celebrates their rich lives and sometimes surprising customs.”-Dr. Jon Hunner, Emeritus Professor of History at New Mexico State University, Former Director of New Mexico History Museum
Prateek Dasgupta completed his Master's in Materials Science from Pennsylvania State University, where he combined his interest in natural history with his fascination for metals to study iron-nickel meteorites. After a career in manufacturing, he is pursuing his lifelong passion for writing with an unmatched penchant for uncovering the stories from history that are often omitted from popular texts. He is curious about the lesser-known chapters of humanity's past, and through his writing, he is bringing us closer to the world of those who were overlooked in historical records. Prateek's primary interest lies in learning about societies from the Ice Age till the fall of the Mongol Empire in the "Old World,” and before the arrival of Columbus in the "New World.” He runs a newsletter called Forgotten Footprints on Substack (https://prateekdg.substack.com/) and is the editor of Teatime History, a publication on Medium. He has also written scripts for popular YouTube historical shows.
