Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley was born on August 30, 1797, in London, England to the political writer William Godwin and feminist writer Mary Wollstonecraft. Initially, critics raised questions about the gruesome elements present in Frankenstein. Nevertheless, the novel gained literary acclaim for its imaginative and descriptive elements.
