The history of the ancient Royal Clan, Mahroks, can be traced back to one of the original streams of the 'People of the Vedas’ (the Aryans) that migrated to the geographical region known as India. They, the erstwhile rulers of places such as Ghazni, Tajikistan and Kannauj, are particularly known for their military valour. Their courage in repulsing the many attacks by the Macedonian Army of Alexander the Great, fighting alongside King Purshottama (Porus), is well documented. Their prowess was again on display when fighting alongside the 'Kauravas' against the 'Pandavas'. But most of all, in later days, the Mahroks became very famous for their long and distinguished service, not only to the Khalsa Army and the Indian Army, but also to the Sikh faith and culture.
