This is one of the sequels to Perumal Murugan's groundbreaking Nar-Narishwar (One Part Woman). It explores what happens to the protagonist Ponna after the events described in the first book. What if Kali dies and leaves Ponna all alone? And Ponna and the community discover that she is pregnant three months after Kali's death?

In this book, three women--Ponna, Ponna's mother, and Ponna's mother-in-law--come together to rewrite the rules of society and live life on their own terms.
