About the Author

div>Gita Wolf was born in Calcutta but educated in different cities in India, including New Delhi, Hyderabad, and Bangalore. She received her Masters degree in Comparative Literature from the University of Erlangen/Nuerenberg, Germany. In 1994, she started Tara Books, as an independent publishing house based in India. Beginning with The Very Hungry Lion in 1995, she has written over 20 books for children and adults. Several have won major international awards and been translated into multiple languages. Her book, Do! was honoured with the prestigious BolognaRagazzi New Horizons award. Another title, Gobble You Up went on to win the Aesop award.Arun Wolf is a young film-maker from Chennai, India and has been associated with Tara for several years - he assists with visual documentation and is involved in producing book-related shorts and themed documentaries for Tara Books.The various artists featured in this book include several award-winners and men and women of extraordinary talent, including Bhajju Shyam, Durga Bai, Jagdish Chitara and Bhaddu Hamir. Each of these artists has exhibited in India and elsewhere, being featured in exhibitions of outsider and folk art from India.

Anushka Ravishankar, dubbed 'India's Dr. Seuss', is one of India's most celebrated children's authors, and her witty and jubilant tales are internationally acclaimed and widely translated. Anushka has now authored over twenty books and travelled widely performing from her stories. Some of her books for Tara include Captain Coconut and the Case of the Missing Bananas, Tiger on a Tree, Catch That Crocodile!, To Market! To Market! and Alphabets are Amazing Animals.

Ragini Siruguri is a visual communication designer from Hyderabad and is passionate about design thinking and education, street photography and music. She loves to experiment with the smell of colours, the taste of words, and thinking between the lines.

Dhwani Shah is an illustrator and graphic designer from Mumbai. She studied design from Sir J.J. School of Applied Art, Mumbai and National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. She enjoys working on editorial illustrations, non fiction comics and publication design projects.

Rohini Srinivasan is an editorial assistant at Tara Books. Currently living in Chennai, she is originally from Kolkata where she graduated with honours from Jadavpur University. She is interested in craft processes, urban studies and internet culture
