From the Preface:

I suspected that the law contained its fair share of oddities that may be of interest to judges, lawyers, and lay readers alike. What I did not anticipate was that it would prove to be an almost inexhaustible mine of creativity by judges, humour, sarcasm, and, at times, the bizarre alongside the sublime. Every time I thought the record of absurdity on a particular theme to be complete, another case emerged to remind me that imagination is not confined to poets and criminals.

What follows in this book is an exploration of judges who listened to voices only they could hear, lawyers who mistook creativity or, at times, indiscretion for competence, and judgments that might easily pass for works of surrealist literature. It celebrates the serious business of justice in a lighter vein, while also revealing the comic human side of those who administer it.

This set:
Includes The Bench, the Bar, and the Bizarre and The Lawful and the Awful two engaging collections of real legal stories by Tushar Mehta
Features bizarre legal cases, eccentric judges, powerful dissents, and courtroom drama

Explores the human side of law wit, irony, humour, and unpredictability
Is ideal for lawyers, law students, and general readers interested in legal anecdotes and true law stories
