About the Author

Saikat Majumdar is the author of four novels: SilverfishThe Firebird/Play HouseThe Scent of God, acclaimed as one of the major queer novels to come out of India following the decriminalization of homosexuality, and most recently, The Middle Finger, a contemporary college campus novel that seeks to retell ancient myths.

He has also published nonfiction and criticism, including the book Prose of the WorldCollege: Pathways of Possibility-a widely read book on liberal education in India. He is Professor of English and Creative Writing at Ashoka University and was a Fellow at the Wellesley College Humanities Center and the Stellenbosch Institute of Advanced Study in South Africa.
