Review

... great fun and eye-opening too... I'm looking forward to finding out where Sunil will travel next. -- Andrea Reece - LoveReading4Kids

I love Iszi Lawrence's new series, The Time Machine Next Door. Each book gives you several time travel stories for the price of one. Delightfully quirky and full of fascinating historical facts they are enhanced by jolly illustrations where one of the main characters looks a lot like the author! I especially love that the Time Machine sits atop a toilet. Perfect for clever kids aged 7+. - Caroline Lawrence, author of The Roman Mysteries novels

PRAISE FOR BLACKBEARD'S TREASURE
This is children's fiction at its best ... Perfect for fans of Jacqueline Wilson.

The Lady Published On: 2023-01-06

PRAISE FOR THE UNSTOPPABLE LETTY PEGG
Letty and her friends and rivals are great characters, as are the real life people she comes across at different times in her adventures. Thoroughly recommended.

-- Andrea Reece - Books for Keeps

PRAISE FOR BILLIE SWIFT TAKES FLIGHT
It is brimming with historical detail and really highlights the heroic nature of some very inspirational women. It would be an excellent class story that would provide children with a tale about a thrilling war-time adventure.

About the Author

Iszi Lawrence is a comedian, podcaster, history presenter and author of The Unstoppable Letty PeggBillie Swift Takes Flight and Blackbeard's Treasure (which was selected as Blackwell's Book of the Month). She was co-host of BBC Radio 4's Making History and hosts a number of podcasts including the British Museum Membercast. Iszi is a dark blue belt in Japanese style Jiu Jitsu so she also spends time in the week helping to teach both short people (7-11 year olds) and grown ups how to punch her in the face. She dabbles in illustration, plays the guitar, likes cooking and dinosaurs and enjoys keeping fit. She lives in Reading with a poet and two cats.

Rebecca Bagley is a freelance illustrator and book designer based in Bath, England. Rebecca began illustrating and writing for comics; self publishing and selling short graphic novels about robots and bears. After deciding to start being grown up and study properly, she graduated in 2014 with a First Class Honors in Graphic Design, working then for a short time in children's publishing as a designer. Enthralled by the industry and fuelled by coffee and her obsession for picture books, she packed up her experience and returned to the other side of the coin to draw full time, and sometimes scan things in too.

Her work captures little tales of silliness, often extracted from reality but imagination is usually invited to play too. She enjoys making urban fables for young minds, that centre around characters and simple pleasures and always has time to bake a cake.
