This book is a labour of meticulous research to engage in the discourse of societal conditions of Dalit women by highlighting their lived experiences through their narratorial voices and offer a perspective on sanitized and sensitized history. Divided into three sections, the first section titled 'Mapping Dalit Theory and Feminism' comprises writings covering various theories and historical background to Dalit feminism. The second section 'Defining Women in Dalit Poetry and its Praxis' includes chapters analyzing Dalit poetry dealing with Dalit women. The final section 'Defining Dalit Women's Aesthetics in Dalit Writings' highlights various Dalit expressions and narratives by focusing on the portrayal of Dalit women. The book thus explores the politics of gender and society, and gender and caste from a Dalit perspective. While compiling this book, our focus was on using simple expressions and putting together our contribution in the hope that an important discourse like Dalit feminism will continue to be discussed in academia. This anthology is also researcher and student-friendly.
