About The Book

The collection of short stories is as spicy, funny and eclectic as the varied relationships that life has to offer. The author examines different relationships from the perspective of the characters of the story, often reaching a philosophical conclusion. The easy going narration allows the reader to move along comfortably as the author captures the nuances of these associations. Many of the stories are inspired from her life but are made even more interesting through her imagination. The end of the stories can leave you in splits, in a pensive mood or just plain happy.

THE TEACHER AND THE THIEF

“I don’t care who you are! What are you doing in my house and that too under this bed?” She glared at him, at her strictest teacher best. But to no avail. The sheepish grin became a broad smile, which was rather attractive.

“Oh! I came here to rob your house.”

“You what?” Sonia was totally flabbergasted.

“Robbery. As in theft. Burglary. Loot. You know.”

“Uff ! You don’t have to give me synonyms. I am an English language teacher.”

WHEN WILL THE GULMOHAR BLOOM?

The simple lunch passed off as a pleasant affair. Like the previous day, they were comfortable in each other’s company. Puja raptly listened to Prashant delineate his plans for the future. Aware of the fact that she was a little older than him, she couldn’t help smiling at his childlike enthusiasm, which was so infectious. So typical of a newcomer to the city, she thought. She hoped this zest would not be lost in the quagmire of skepticism that the city could often generate. That day, when she returned home, the flowers of the gulmohar seemed to be more brilliant than usual.

THE TINKLE OF ANKLETS

As suddenly as the cloud had appeared, it passed over. And there she was! Looking into the waters of the stream, Godavari saw the reflection of her beautiful face, peering over her shoulder. Startled, she turned around, almost losing her foothold on the slippery stones. The lady behind her put out a hand to steady her. The hand was icy cold, sending a shiver down Godavari’s spine
