Some stories are told. Some are shaped by silence.

Meet Alamer – taught to love without ownership, but forced to confront the cost of desire. Preetha is navigating abandonment, rage, and quiet reinvention. Kedari, dazzling and desired, aches for a love that sees beyond her body. A wife who believed she could love two men at once. A girl convinced that a brief affair with a wealthy married man would come without consequence.

Each story peels back the polished surface of so-called acceptable womanhood to reveal hunger, contradiction, and defiance. These are stories of women who falter, want too much, stay too long, or walk away too late. And yet, in their choices lies a radical truth: a woman’s life is a narrative she owns.

Set against the shifting moralities of time, these stories look unflinchingly at the stains left behind by life’s choices. It looks between what is forgiven, what is forgotten, and what refuses to fade.

Inheritance of Longing dares to listen where the world looks away. After all, what do women inherit more deeply – the silence, the story, or the longing itself?

About the Author

Tuljha is an architect, furniture designer, educator, and writer whose practice spans the built environment along with the formless landscapes of human experience. For decades, she has designed spaces that hold people’s stories long after they’ve moved on.

Her storytelling rises from how people inhabit their inner worlds, how silence gathers in corners, and how longing alters the shape of a life. This is her debut work of fiction, built with the same quiet precision, emotion, and the invisible forces that shape a life.
