The human eye is conditioned to observe surroundings from a perspective that is generally no more than two metres from the ground. But, Karam Puri’s stunning aerial photographs go a step beyond in mapping Madhya Pradesh, the beating heart of India, with a lens through which it has never been seen before – grandly yet intimately.

With more than 180 photographs of the state’s many natural and architectural wonders – from UNESCO world heritage sites in Bhimbetka, Sanchi and Khajuraho to verdant national parks at Satpura, Bandhavgarh and Panna; from the fort city of Gwalior to the romance of Mandu; from gorgeous palaces to glorious temples and everything in between, Madhya PradeshFrom Above is, above all, a love letter to the multifaceted beauty of the state. Introduced by Prince Richard Holkar, the book weaves together the many compelling reasons to visit the sites that are recorded and marvel at the magnificence of Madhya Pradesh.
