Tara is a modern-day princess, but her life is no fairy tale.
Born into Rajput royalty, she grows up under the weight of a neglectful father and a controlling mother. Love, always a butterfly just out of reach, becomes her deepest yearning.
Determined to break free, Tara escapes a gilded prison and a loveless marriage, seeking a fresh start in the City of Dreams—Mumbai. There, she meets Kabir—a Bengali-French photographer who sees through her carefully built armour. With him, she begins to heal, to live, to love.
Just as she dares to believe in a future, Vivan Mehta—Bollywood’s golden boy and irresistible enigma—pulls her into a whirlwind of passion and temptation, and a spotlight she never sought. But is it possible to really let go of the past?
As her husband’s shadow trails her every step and her mother’s machinations lurk in the background, Tara must choose between love and desire, duty and freedom, self-preservation and surrender.
Review
‘Tara’s story stayed with me long after I turned the last page. It draws the reader into a gamut of emotions—love, passion and human failings. An unforgettable read I highly recommend!’

‘In Tara, Nelofar Currimbhoy reveals a rare gift for storytelling that is at once lucid and layered, elegant and immersive. With an assured voice and a storyteller’s instinct, she weaves a narrative that blends reality with imagination, the spiritual with the mysterious and the glittering with shadow into a seamless mosaic. Her words flow effortlessly, capturing the delicate threads of longing, ambition and the enigma of human connection. Her characters are strikingly alive— flawed, vivid and deeply human—anchoring a plot that simmers with quiet tension and emotional resonance. This is a novel that seduces you slowly, pulls you in and refuses to let go. Tara is not just a novel; it is an experience.’
